How to Choose a Color Palette for Your Home (A Simple 5-Color Method)

Start with a base of two neutrals

Pick two neutrals that set the mood: a warm white and a soft greige, say. These go on walls and large furniture and appear in every room. They're the quiet backbone of the whole palette.

Add two secondary tones

Choose one or two mid-tones drawn from your style — muted sage and warm oak for organic modern, sea glass and pale wood for coastal. These show up in rugs, textiles, and cabinetry.

Finish with one accent
